1 Killed in Alpine Truck Crash on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road

Alpine, California (February 13, 2023) – One person was killed in a semi-truck crash in Alpine on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road.

A car carrier was reportedly heading east on I-8 when it was rear-ended by another semi-truck.

The second semi-truck burst into flames following the accident.

The driver of the rig that caught fire was killed in the crash.

The other motorist was unharmed.

The eastbound side of I-8 was shut down as authorities investigated the incident.

An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
