Pedestrian Killed in Tacoma Collision on Interstate 5

Tacoma, Washington State (May 13, 2023) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Friday morning in Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.

As per the report, the tragic traffic crash was reported at around 7:22 a.m. on May 12 on northbound Interstate 5 near East McKinley Way.

A driver struck a pedestrian in the area for reasons not yet established.

The pedestrian was killed in the wreck.

The name of the deceased was not immediately released.

The three right lanes and the ramp from Interstate 705 to State Route 75 were shut down. All lanes reopened at around 10:00 a.m.

Troopers, a WSDOT crew, and members of the Tacoma Fire Department responded to the scene.

More details about the crash were not available.

The incident remains under investigation.
