Merced County, California (October 16, 2022) – A man was killed in a big rig collision that happened in Los Banos, Merced County, on Saturday night, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at around 11:44 p.m. October 15, at Henry Miller Avenue and Cherokee Road.

CHP said two semi-trucks carrying tomatoes were involved in the collision.

One of the rigs rolled over following the collision.

Authorities say a 36-year-old man from Cantua Creek was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver involved in the crash was not injured.

The intersection was shut down briefly as authorities investigated the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
