Lincoln County, Oregon (March 17, 2023) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon in Lincoln County.

The fatal accident was reported at around 3:28 a.m. on Highway 101 near milepost 152 at around 3:28 p.m.

Oregon State Police say 32-year-old Ashlee Christine Hayden, of Tidewater, was driving a white Subaru WRX southbound on the highway when she drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a white Chevy box truck driven by 40-year-old Victor Loreza, of Salem.

Ashlee was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Loreza and his two passengers, 38-year-old Jose Soto Hernandez and 40-year-old Jesus Vargas Gerardo, both from Salem, were seriously injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Central Coast Fire Department, Seal Rock Fire Department, ODOT and Life Flight assisted at the scene.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
