1 Killed, 1 Injured in Cle Elum Car Crash on State Route 970 at Red Bridge Road

Cle Elum, Washington (May 18, 2023) – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision near Cle Elum on Thursday.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident happened on State Route 970 at Red Bridge Road.

A Volkswagen Jetta was preparing to turn onto Red Bridge with a Volkswagen Golf stopped behind it.

Authorities say a Ford Econoline driven by 37-year-old Elecia Vaughn of Cle Elum failed to slow down and crashed into the Volkswagen Golf which subsequently struck the Jetta.

Vaughn died at the accident scene.

The driver of the Golf was injured but was not transported.

Additional information about the accident was not provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
