1 Hospitalized After Cottonwood Car Crash on Interstate 5 at Cottonwood Bridge

Shasta County, California (February 26, 2023) – One person was sent to the hospital after a big rig accident that happened Saturday morning in Cottonwood, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision was reported at around 5:10 a.m. on northbound Interstate 5 at the Cottonwood Bridge, just north of the Shasta/Tehama county line.

A Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 Volvo big rig were involved in the accident under unclear circumstances.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported one person to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Pathfinder was towed away with major front-end damage.

CHP is investigating the collision.
