Salkum, WA.- One person was injured in a collision involving two vehicles near Salkum on Sunday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident took place on U.S. at about 10:45 a.m. on May 11.

According to WSP, a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling eastbound on the highway when he slowed down to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria.

The driver of the 2003 Ford was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital with major injuries.

The two occupants of the other vehicle were not injured in the incident.

Authorities believe following too closely was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
