1 Injured in San Diego Car Crash on 5 Freeway near Balboa Avenue

San Diego, California (February 19, 2023) – At least one person was injured in a suspected DUI car crash that happened on Saturday night in San Diego.

The collision happened at around 9:49 p.m. on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway near Balboa Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Lexus SUV and another SUV were involved in the collision. The impact of the collision sent one of the SUVs off the roadway and down an embankment, trapping one person inside.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department arrived at the scene and extricated a woman who was trapped in the overturned SUV.

One person was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver of a Lexus was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
